September 24th-25th
We are so excited for our upcoming team pictures. Darla Rozema will be doing our pictures again this year. She always does a fabulous job and you can check out her fabulous work at darlarozephotography.com. This year we have decided to do our pictures on location. We will be doing them at the Star Mill in American Fork. The address is 147 E. 600 N. The following directions are as if you were coming from the studio.
Head North on State Street for 6.2 miles
Slight left at E Main Street 486 ft.
Take the 2nd right onto 100 E. 0.8 miles
Turn right at 600 N. 302 ft.
Darla will be taking pictures of the entire team along with separate shots of each individual girl on that team. This will all be done within the given team picture time frame. We ask that everyone get to the location 15 minutes earlier then your scheduled team picture time. We are under a strict time frame due to the pictures being outside and having to work with the lighting of the sun. So please make sure that you come when we have asked you to. Darla is also going to be doing any family, friend, or outside group shots for anyone at our studio who is interested. We have several time slots for those pictures. If you are interested in a family picture please call the office to reserve one of the times. You will receive information from Darla at your dancer’s specific picture time, giving you details on pricing and how to proof and purchase these pictures. The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday September 23rd
5-7pm Family/Friend/Outside Group Picture Slots (Every 30 minutes)
Thursday September 24th
3-3:30pm Family/Friend/Outside Group Picture Slot
3:30-4:15pm Sr. Company
4:15-5:00pm Teen Company
5:00-5:30pm Mini Company
5:30-6:00pm Extreme Company
6:00-7:00pm Jr. Prep Company
Friday September 25th
3-3:30pm Family/Friend/Outside Group Picture Slot
3:30-4:15pm Jazz Company
4:15-5:00pm Jr. Jazz Company
5:00-5:45pm Junior Company
5:45-7:00pm Family/Friend/Outside Group Picture Slots (Every 30 minutes)
*Minis/Extreme/Jr. Prep will not have any class at the studio on Thursday September 24th. They just need to come to pictures and that is it.
**Sr. Company/Teen Company will not have ballet levels on Thursday September 24th, but will however have the rest of their scheduled classes that day.
What to Wear:
Since the pictures are going to be outside and we are doing them in the fall, we ask that every team wear street clothes in fall colors. This means deep browns, reds, plums, greens, yellows, oranges and blues. We do not want bright sunny colors, but more deep muted versions of these colors. You can wear anything from shorts, skirts, dresses, pants, jeans, shirts, sweaters, vests and jackets. Please be creative and don’t forget to accessorize with any hats, scarves, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, headbands, belts and socks. Any shoes may be worn we just ask that they are closed toe shoes, so no sandals or flip flops. Fingernail polish is allowed, but please make sure if you are going to wear it that it is in the appropriate color scheme.
Hair & Make-up
Hair may be done however you would like. We would like a variety so remember to be creative. We would like to see some down, curly, wavy, straight, half up or all the way up. Please take time to make your hair look nice for the picture.
Make-up needs to be worn by all teams no matter what the age. It doesn’t need to be as dramatic as stage/performance make-up, but still needs to be seen. All dancers need to be wearing powder, blush, earth tone eye shadows (neutral browns, or plums), eyeliner (maybe not the tiny little girls), mascara, and any soft pink lipstick. We then ask that a clear gloss be put over the soft pink lipstick. We want everyone to wear their own make-up and lipstick so that germs are not spread. These pictures need to look uniform and professional so please take time in getting ready so that you look your best for the picture.
Team pictures are very important to us at the studio. Again, please be sure to be on time at the location completely ready to go. If you have any questions concerning any of this please contact the office at 801-224-8738 and we will be happy to answer those for you. Thank you for all that you do!

Introducing the Newest Studio 1 Family Member

Nicole had a beautiful baby boy on Saturday August 15th at 3:07pm. Dean Mays Pullins came two weeks early weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and is 19 1/2 inches. Mom and baby are doing very well. Ava loves being a big sis and holding her new baby brother. I am so excited for my sister and can't wait until I get to hold my cute new nephew.

Fall Registration
We are now registering for all of our fall classes. We offer many types of classes in all levels from ages 3-18. Classes include Combonation classes, Princess Ballet, Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz and Ballroom. Anyone is welcome to come try any class for free the first time. For a detailed schedule and information about the classes please contact our office at 801-224-8738. If you know that you want your dancer in a certain class or even if they just want to try it please call so that we can put your dancers name on the roster. We do only allow certain numbers of dancers in these classes and they can fill up, so we encourage you to put your dancers name on the roster even if they are just trying the class, so that if they do decide to do it they have a spot. These classes will begin the first week of September. We look forward to having you as a part of our Studio 1 family!

Optional L.A. Trip
We are so excited about the optional L.A. Trip that we are planning in October. L.A. is a great place to go to learn and experience teachers, choreographers, and dance side by side with the industries professionals. It will be a trip that will be very beneficial to the progression of your dancers training and education. We feel strongly that this will be a really good experience for those who choose to attend.
The trip is planned for Tuesday October 13th through Saturday October 17th. Part of the trip is over UEA break. The reason that we have decided to leave on Tuesday is because there are more classes offered in the first part of the week then there are at the end. We feel that if we are making the trip then we should get the most out of it. Natalie, Steviee, and Nicole will be the teachers that will be going on the trip. You as parents are welcome to come with your dancers if you would like too, but the three of us also feel confident in looking after your dancer as well.
We will be booking this trip through Destinations Travel Agency. The group rate that they have figured out for us is based on if ten people were to attend. That rate is $557 per person. This includes airfare, hotel rooms, transportation in L.A., and all taxes. Depending on the actual number that decide to attend, the price per person will vary from the estimated price.
Other expenses would include food and the price to take classes. Classes start at $13 a class, but they do have punch passes at discounts for those who wish to take many classes. The punch pass prices are as follows: 3 classes for $36, 5 classes for $58, or 10 classes for $110. We will be taking classes at two different studios while we are there. We are planning on dancers taking on average 3 classes a day.
We need to have a head count no later then Monday August 24th. Our travel agent needs to have first and last names of all who are attending. Please email us this information if this is something that you are wanting your dancer to do. Once we have an exact head count we can give you an exact price per person.
Once again we are super excited for this and hope that everyone can take the opportunity to attend.

L.A. Dance Magic Final Nationals Information
The convention and competition schedule has arrived. We have put all of the schedule for our studio included in this packet, but if you would like to print a schedule for the whole competition & print another convention schedule go to www.ladancemagic.com, then click on National Finals, and then click on schedule. Also included in this packet is a costume checklist along with your hair instructions. We are begging all dancers to go through their bags today and make sure that you have every costume item that is needed. Please make sure that you have every item before you leave to California! Something that is not included in this packet, but that will be sent home by Thursday of this week is a list of all teacher contact numbers along with contact numbers for every dancer. This is a great way to get in contact with us when you have arrived in California. If you are staying in the Marriot, signs will be posted showing you where L.A. Dance Magic’s venue is at in the building. When you arrive we strongly suggest you go and check that out so that you can become acquainted with where your dancer will be spending most of their time. If you are not staying in the host hotel please contact one of the teachers when you arrive so that they can direct you where you need to go in order to get to the competition area correctly. There are just a few more reminders that we would like to bring to your attention:
All dancers need to be in the dressing room 1 hour before their scheduled performance time. They need to be completely dressed in their costume and have all hair and make-up (including eyelashes and lipstick) done. Please do not be late! This is what we have worked for the whole year want everyone to do their very best.
All dancers need to be wearing their studio 1 travel uniform over their costumes when they come down to the competition and any time that they are sitting in the audience to watch.
All dancers need to stay for awards if they participated in that portion of the competition. It looks terrible if there is no one at the awards ceremony to pick up our studios awards. The awards times are listed on your competition schedule below.
There is absolutely no photography or videoing allowed in the competition. This is their rule not ours, but please abide it. This is something that can and has greatly affected competition scores in the past!
All dancers are required to attend every convention class! This includes the scholarship audition. Whether you think so or not the L.A. Dance Magic keeps track of those studios dancers who are not attending classes and this really does affect the scores to their competition dances.
We do understand that it is fun to be in California and to go to Disneyland, but the reason dancers are going to Nationals is for dance. This needs to be their main focus. Now that the schedule is out it looks like everyone will have a chance to do some of the fun things with their families. Please schedule those at appropriate times where it is not going to affect the convention or competition.
And last we just want to remind everyone how proud we are of them and how excited we are for Nationals. We have a lot of confidence in all of our dancers and can’t wait to show off how great you all are. We are excited to have a really fun week of dance with all of you.
