The convention and competition schedule has arrived. We have put all of the schedule for our studio included in this packet, but if you would like to print a schedule for the whole competition & print another convention schedule go to www.ladancemagic.com, then click on National Finals, and then click on schedule. Also included in this packet is a costume checklist along with your hair instructions. We are begging all dancers to go through their bags today and make sure that you have every costume item that is needed. Please make sure that you have every item before you leave to California! Something that is not included in this packet, but that will be sent home by Thursday of this week is a list of all teacher contact numbers along with contact numbers for every dancer. This is a great way to get in contact with us when you have arrived in California. If you are staying in the Marriot, signs will be posted showing you where L.A. Dance Magic’s venue is at in the building. When you arrive we strongly suggest you go and check that out so that you can become acquainted with where your dancer will be spending most of their time. If you are not staying in the host hotel please contact one of the teachers when you arrive so that they can direct you where you need to go in order to get to the competition area correctly. There are just a few more reminders that we would like to bring to your attention:
All dancers need to be in the dressing room 1 hour before their scheduled performance time. They need to be completely dressed in their costume and have all hair and make-up (including eyelashes and lipstick) done. Please do not be late! This is what we have worked for the whole year want everyone to do their very best.
All dancers need to be wearing their studio 1 travel uniform over their costumes when they come down to the competition and any time that they are sitting in the audience to watch.
All dancers need to stay for awards if they participated in that portion of the competition. It looks terrible if there is no one at the awards ceremony to pick up our studios awards. The awards times are listed on your competition schedule below.
There is absolutely no photography or videoing allowed in the competition. This is their rule not ours, but please abide it. This is something that can and has greatly affected competition scores in the past!
All dancers are required to attend every convention class! This includes the scholarship audition. Whether you think so or not the L.A. Dance Magic keeps track of those studios dancers who are not attending classes and this really does affect the scores to their competition dances.
We do understand that it is fun to be in California and to go to Disneyland, but the reason dancers are going to Nationals is for dance. This needs to be their main focus. Now that the schedule is out it looks like everyone will have a chance to do some of the fun things with their families. Please schedule those at appropriate times where it is not going to affect the convention or competition.
And last we just want to remind everyone how proud we are of them and how excited we are for Nationals. We have a lot of confidence in all of our dancers and can’t wait to show off how great you all are. We are excited to have a really fun week of dance with all of you.

L.A. Dance Magic Nationals Update
Nationals are quickly approaching and we could not be more excited for our upcoming trip! The girls have been working hard and we are confident that they are going to do amazing at nationals. L.A. Dance Magic has just today stopped accepting entry fees for nationals. This means that they will now be able to start to set a permanent schedule as far as exact times for the convention and competition. As soon as we get that information we will get it to you as fast as we can. The note we send home with the detailed schedule will also have information concerning exactly where your dancer needs to meet us and when they need to be there. We will also send home contact info so that we can be communicating with each other once we are in California. We want to remind you as we have in past notes that all solos/duos/and trios are scheduled right now for Monday July 6th. We have spoken to L.A. Dance Magic and they have told us that those could start as early as 7:30am that day. If you have signed up to do a solo/duo/trio please make sure that you arrive at a time before this so that you are guaranteed to be there when you are scheduled.
In May we sent home a note informing you that the studio was going to have you pay a deposit on Nationals. We did this in hopes that this would somehow make it easier for you financially to pay for this. As stated on the June calendars, it is now time to pay the balance on Nationals. Below we have put the balance that still needs to be paid. We need this balance to be taken care of by Wednesday June 24th.
On Friday July 10th L.A. Dance Magic has what they call their Xtreme Dance Challenge. This is a closing night gala or finale and is what they do to wrap up the whole week of Nationals. In the Xtreme Dance Challenge they have picked from all age categories dances to compete for the overall top dances of the week. There is no guarantee that dancers will make it into the dance challenge, but we feel that are girls have a very good chance of doing so. In order to come to the dance challenge you must purchase tickets. This is a huge event where dinner is served, formal wear is worn, there is a faculty show and then the dance challenge happens. Tickets for this dance challenge are on sale right now at ladancemagic.com for $75 a person. In years past tickets need to be purchased in advance because they have usually sold out before even getting to California. Again I want to remind you that there is no guarantee that our dancers will be in the Xtreme Dance Challenge, but I feel confident that they will. It is up to you to make the decision if you wish to go or not. Dancers that are in the dance challenge are not required to purchase a ticket. Studio 1 Auditions 2009
Auditions for our competing Teams/Companies will be coming up in the month of June. We would like to get this information out to all of you so that you can mark these dates on your calendars. They will be held June 10th-12th. We would like to invite all of our beginning classes to audition. Everyone must attend the first two days of auditions in the age group in which dancers fall into. If you are invited back, and you wish to be on an advanced company you will need to attend the third day. A call will be made by us to you the night of Thursday after the audition to let those know that they have been invited back for Friday audition. We will be holding a meeting on Tuesday June 9th for any of those who would want to come and get information about auditions, teams, and what to expect, etc. It will be at 6:00pm at the Studio. This will be a great way for you and your dancer to learn about our studio and to have any questions answered.
Wednesday June 10th (Workshop Day)
*Today dancers will learn the combinations they are going to audition.
4-6 yr. olds: 4-5pm Ballet, 5-6pm Jazz/Combo
7-9 yr. olds: 5-6pm Ballet, 6-7:30pm Jazz/Combo

There will be audition forms at the studio and we will even have them at our year end concert for you to sign up for auditions. Dance attire and proper shoes should be worn for the workshop as well as the audition. Our auditions are fun and casual so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience! A letter will be mailed a few days after auditions to let you know which team your dancer made. Orientation meeting will be held on Saturday June 27th. An exact time of the orientation meeting will be on the letter that is sent out after auditions. A Legal Guardian and the dancer must be in attendance at this meeting in order to placed on the team! If you have any other questions please contact the office at 224-8738. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at auditions.
